Objectives: * To make eye care services easily accessible for people living in rural and underdeveloped cities. * To support people in need by offering free cataract surgery, helping protect their eyesight and contribute to economic growth. * To help eliminate blindness in the region by providing free cataract surgery.
Rashmi and Mahmud Siddique Foundation (RMSF), based in New Jersey, USA, has partnered with Deep Eye Care Foundation, Darshana (DECF), Akkelpur, Rangpur to launch the “Elimination of Cataract Blindness Project- Debiganj.” This project will help restore vision for underprivileged cataract patients in Debiganj, Panchagar, and nearby areas in Bangladesh. It aims to improve quality of life by offering free eye camps, cataract surgeries, and follow-up care. The project brings primary eye care directly to people who need it most, making all types of eye services more accessible. Many people in this region face poverty, lack of awareness, superstition, and difficult weather, which keeps them below the poverty line and makes it hard to get affordable eye care in the city. As a result, many suffer from curable cataract blindness, and the number is growing each year. Together, they aim to restore sight for people who are blind due to cataracts. The project will provide free cataract surgery for 1,000 adults in need in Debiganj Upazila.
